With his vast knowledge of tools and materials, Mármol produces sculptures, as well as, site-specific installations and performance sculptures seeped in political satire and social criticism fabricated, deconstructed, and enacted with the art of play at the core. Mármol is a Mexico City-based artist originally from Hidalgo, MX. He holds a degree in Visual Arts at the Instituto de Artes de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH) as well as a masters in Visual Arts at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in Mexico City. Most recently, he has participated in exhibitions at Guadalajara 90210, Mexico City and Guadalajara; Casa Wabi, Oaxaca; N.A.S.A.L., Mexico City; Museo Fundación Juan March, Palma; the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chile, Santiago; and the Gabriel García Márquez Cultural Center, Bogotá. He was awarded first place in the Rectangular Prism Acquisition Award at the Centro Cultural Esación Indianilla in Mexico City. He also obtained Honorable Mention at the UNAM University Art Biennial. Recently, he won the artistic creation residency at Casa Wabi during the ACME Salon No. 7 art fair in Mexico City. (b. 1986, Costa Rica) is an artist based in Mexico City whose practice centers on painting and drawing. Working between figuration and abstraction, Ríos develops a surreal visual language marked by moments of emotional catharsis, where intuition, memory, and imagination converge within carefully constructed pictorial spaces. Her paintings depict dream-like scenes populated by recurring figures, fragmented bodies, and symbolic elements that resist linear interpretation. These compositions function as emotional landscapes rather than narrative settings, allowing sensation and affect to take precedence over fixed meaning. Ríos’s use of color is central to this process: her palettes are saturated yet restrained, generating a quiet intensity that heightens the emotional charge of each work. Black spaces frequently appear within her compositions as acts of rupture: gestures of resistance that open the image toward ambiguity, depth, and imaginative projection. The artist’s sensitivity to spatial organization and compositional balance is informed by her academic background in architecture and graphic design, which subtly underpins the structure of her paintings without overtly determining their form. Through layered processes developed from drawings and collages, Ríos constructs images that oscillate between control and release, clarity and discovery. Ríos has presented solo exhibitions including In the Margins of What You Call Reality (JO-HS, New York, 2024), Realities in Dialogue / Realidades en diálogo (JO-HS, New York, 2023), and Más allá del mundo que existe (Cuarto 37, Costa Rica, 2021). Her work has been included in international group exhibitions such as Hybrid Vistas (Nika Project Space, Dubai, 2025), Inner Lives (Salon 21, New York, 2025), Anatomías (GARNA Gallery, Madrid, 2025), These Boots Are Made for Walkin’ (Room57 Gallery, New York, 2024, curated by Christine Mack) and The Imaginary Made Real (Berry Campbell Gallery, Curated by Paul Laster, New York). She was a Semi-Finalist for the Erarta Foundation and ZONAMACO Art Prize (2024) and has participated in artist residencies at the Mack Art Foundation (New York, 2024) and JO-HS (Mexico City, 2022). Her work has been featured in Vogue, Galerie Magazine, Cultured Magazine, and ONDA MX. Photo by Fernanda Velázquez How would you describe your creative process? M: In my process, I try not to rationalize anything. I seek out unusual moments, almost as if I'm pulling myself out of my own logic. I try to make the sketch, the image selection, or the collage as quick, impulsive, and honest as possible. By working this way, I'm not entirely sure of the result, but I have what I need to start painting. This is where I take the most time and begin to understand the more spontaneous relationships that emerged in the sketch. How does your art reflect your personal identity or life experiences? M: I believe my paintings are completely connected to my reality, my thoughts, and the way I navigate conflicts, questions, or fears that haunt me. They are a kind of life log, transformed into scenes, with characters, locations, and I would even say dialogue. What is a recurring theme or idea in your work? M: Among my recurring ideas, I always find her in the scene. She is sometimes me, another woman, and many times, I don’t know who she is. And in that idea, she is an anachronistic, omnipresent, and fully leading character. How do you know when a painting is finished? I sense a painting is finished when it surpasses my expectations or when I feel that if I add anything else, I’ll ruin it. How has your work evolved over time? My work has evolved technically, which has been very interesting for me, but also conceptually. Today there is greater clarity in my thinking, and that, in some way, is reflected in what I paint. What techniques are you currently exploring?&nbsp; Currently, I move between expression and the idea of realism-surrealism, and an attempt to approach abstraction—not through marks or spontaneous gestures, but through sensation and experience. It's a path that isn't linear, but a constant back and forth, and I believe it's precisely there, in that oscillation, where the true evolution of my painting happens. How do you find balance between your art and external expectations? I find it very interesting to hear opinions and different perspectives about my work, to listen to what it evokes and the places it transports people to. It is as if we have crafted a thick mirage that crystallizes immeasurable cosmic processes of our material reality, pushed by economic, political and social forces. The work of Rodrigo explores the multifaceted constructed environments that we are entangled with. Through the creation of installations and hybrid sculptures he seeks to open and re-interpret the relations that arise from the artificial worlds we are embedded in. He is drawn to the environments of our everyday contemporary existence as well as the underlooked places like the gritty underbelly of the urban landscape, our streets, the hidden infrastructures that keep our lives running on the surface, and the already distorted natural surroundings. Half inspired by the objective world and half inspired by fictional constructions, Rodrigo’s artwork unfolds materially in the edges of the figurative and the abstract. His work manifests as hybrid assemblages, as if taking snapshots of different dimensions of the world. His practice moves through the intersections of figurative painting, portraiture, and landscape, exploring themes of memory, identity, and imagination through a distinctly neo-baroque sensibility—one that embraces the coexistence of heterogeneous visual languages within a single pictorial body. Conceived by his interest in how perception is shaped by emotional, historical, and environmental contexts, his work unfolds through layered compositions and an intentionally eclectic visual vocabulary. Each piece seeks to evoke both affective and conceptual responses, inviting viewers into spaces where beauty and contradiction coexist. Rodrigo’s paintings resist linear readings, unfolding instead through multiple interpretations. They often stage a tension between excess and disappearance—between ornamental density and the quiet presence of what is overlooked. He conceives of his practice as a form of visual archaeology, one that excavates the symbolic ruins of paradise while questioning the power structures embedded within notions of beauty. Each work becomes an invitation to look beyond surface appearances, toward the layered histories, emotions, and violences that shape the act of seeing oneself. He has had important portrait commissions including a portrait of the second room of the Nation’s Supreme Court of Justice and his collectors encompass all levels of society. Mernin received his B.F.A from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2014. Mernin works through an inspirational image or encounter, pushing representation to the very limits of legibility and activating the unwieldy significance of gesture. He uses watercolor, ink, and graphite on paper to develop these inquiries into form, gesture, and meaning making. Works of art in their own right, Mernin’s works on paper offer insight into the many moments of perception and representation that accumulate while he gestates his larger paintings. Mernins’ large-scale paintings present translations of visual encounters accumulated over time. Resisting full representation or abstraction, Mernin’s fragmentary forms collide and muddle until a surprising image inadvertently reveals itself. Dynamic color relationships absorb spontaneous structures, establishing seductive, unstable compositions that both command and retain attention. Monterrey, 1980) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Mexico City. Working across photography, video, installation, performance, and painting, her practice explores the porous boundaries between fiction and memory, fantasy and identity. Through her work, González constructs alternate realities of the psyche, intimate universes inhabited by characters who seem suspended between dream and consciousness. Her images, whether cinematic or painterly, evoke the feeling of entering another dimension: one that is at times uncanny or melancholic, at others luminous and tender. In her paintings, what seems familiar often transforms into something distant and surreal. The figures she depicts are immersed in inner worlds that mirror emotional landscapes: lonely, chaotic, or quietly radiant.&nbsp; Parallel to her artistic practice, González is the creator and director of Floto Studio, where she has directed music videos and documentaries for artists such as Leonel García, Natalia Lafourcade, Torreblanca, Sofi Mayen, Jazmín Solar, and Alondra de la Parra, among others. Her work has been exhibited internationally in cities such as Mexico City, Monterrey, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, London, Singapore, and Buenos Aires. Her pieces are part of private&nbsp; collections among Mexico, New York and more. She has also collaborated with creative institutions like Soho House. He grew up in Gvarv in Telemark. He now lives and works in Oslo. Slettemeås is educated at Einar Granum's Art School, 1996-1998 and the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, 1999-2003. Slettemeås works with painting that alternates between the figurative and the abstract, with references both to art history, contemporary events and popular culture. By using his own ideas and experiences and putting them in context with international events, the work appears as a personal story telling. Several works are inspired by the tradition of landscape painters in Telemark, combined with impulses from the globalized world. Morten Slettemeås is considered to be a resilient colorist, with his expressive and colorful paintings, often in large format. He has shown his works in, among others, Kunsthall Grenland, Telemark Art Museum, Bomuldfabriken in Arendal, Lillehammer Art Museum, Haugar Art Museum, Sørlandets Art Museum, Stavanger Art Museum and Stenersen Museum in Oslo, Museo di Arte Contemporanea di San Luis Potosi and il Museo de Chancelleria in Mexico. Slettemeås has been purchased by among others, Sørlandet's Art Museum, Malmø Art Museum and the Norwegian Cultural Council. Based in UK. Artist’s statement:&nbsp; Is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores Indigenous Chuvash legends and myths at the junction of craft and digital technologies. She refers to, reflects on and learns from the expertise of her female ancestors, using textiles and archival family photos &nbsp;to explore the threads between past and future - temporal and timeless, creating portals&nbsp;&nbsp;from the digital to analogue. The recurring symbols of photographs in her work creates the illusion of an untold story hidden in her family archives. She mostly creates wearable sculptures, textile sculptures, engages with performance and photography – a set of works she considers intrinsically bound together and functioning as an organic whole. The wearable sculptures and objects she creates function as both regular sculptures as well as garments that are performed in, and which subsequently become a part of a digital mythology, captured in photos and videos.
