MARIA NAIDICH

México, 1985

María Naidich (Mexico, 1991) combines research with diverse modes of artistic production, primarily glass sculpture and installation, integrating texts, found objects, light, and sound. In her work, Naidich addresses issues that exceed the dichotomies derived from an anthropocentric understanding of “nature.” She works with phenomena and materialities situated at the boundary between the natural and the artificial, reconstructing narratives based on material speculation and fiction to generate heterotopic spaces rooted in the historical, the personal, and the magical. She is currently developing a research project on the mutability of glass, fulgurites—crystallized lightning—and other geological glasses generated through technological impact.

María Naidich is currently pursuing a PhD in Visual Arts at UNAM in Mexico. She holds a Master’s degree with honors in Art and Literature Studies from the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos, Mexico, and a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 2025, she participated in the Emerging Artist in Residence program at the Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, and in 2024 she was selected for the same institution’s Fellowship program. That same year, she was a recipient of the PECDA Morelos grant, and in 2022 she received a Jóvenes Creadores grant from the System of Support for Creation and Cultural Projects of the Ministry of Culture. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Mexico and abroad, including Casa Wabi (Mexico City, 2026), Museo de Arte de Zapopan (Jalisco, Mexico, 2024), Galería Guadalajara90210 (Mexico City, 2024), Foro R38, Claustro de Sor Juana (Mexico City, 2023), TSA Philadelphia (USA, 2023), Salón Acme (Mexico City, 2022 and 2019), Tlaxcala3 (Mexico City, 2022), Galleri Q (Copenhagen, 2018), HANGAR Barcelona (Barcelona, 2017), Oude Kerk (Amsterdam, 2016), and De Brakke Grond (Amsterdam, 2015), among others.
